1 John 3:2

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

Theme: divine adoption and the beatific vision

Falling on All Saints' Day, this Sunday turns our contemplation toward the ultimate destiny of the faithful and the mystery of divine adoption. As autumn strips away the outward glory of the natural world, John reminds the Church that our true, glorified state is yet to be unveiled when we see Christ face to face. It offers a transcendent comfort, anchoring our identity not in present mortality, but in the promised fullness of seeing Him as He is.
