Isaiah 55:10-11

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Commentary

Theme: the power and efficacy of god's word

This verse for mid-summer speaks to the power and unfailing nature of God's word, likening it to the rain that nourishes the earth and brings forth life. In a season of growth and abundance, it reminds us that God's promises are always fulfilled and bring about His intended purposes. It offers a pastoral clarity for a time of year when physical growth is evident, drawing a parallel to spiritual fruitfulness that comes from engaging with divine truth.
